What brought you to the LWV in Greenville?
I joined the LWV in 1983 in Macon, GA, and was co-president of the board there. I have belonged to the LWV in Chester County, PA, as well as Dallas, TX, and Nashville, TN. I was a member-at-large while living in Laredo, TX and Winder, GA. While in Winder, I was on the GA state board. In Nashville, I served at various times as the Voter Services chair, first VP and co-president. Just joined the LWV of Greenville in 2022.

What would you like to see Greenville LWV do in the next year or so?
I’ve joined the LWV wherever I’ve lived because I believe in the League mission of educating voters and guarding everyone’s right to vote. I have participated in some studies, a wonderful intellectual exercise. I enjoy getting to know each region I’m in, their particular issues and what the government is doing to address the issues.

What is the most surprising/interesting thing you’ve learned from being in the LWV?
The most surprising thing is hard to pin down, but perhaps it’s that people who do study issues closely can have an impact on legislators’ knowledge, and that there are women all over the nation who have the same drive to know more and to protect our democracy.

What do you like most about this area?
The topography is very similar to where I grew up in Pennsylvania.

What is the best meal you have ever eaten?
Definitely the meals we made in Casto di Volce, Italy, are right up there. We spent a week learning Italian cooking and eating wonderful Italian food.
