The intersection of race and education across US history

Dr. Holly Pinheiro, assistant professor of African-American history at Furman University, discussed how various issues (surrounding race, gender, and class) have had a profound impact on public education throughout American history. He highlighted a number of historical moments where different historically marginalized groups routinely fought against discriminatory policies and actions. Additionally, the talk highlighted how these groups, across multiple-generations fought for equality and accessibility in public education.
